GENERAL INFORMATION
This 2 day course follows the American Canoe Association curriculum for Safety & Rescue training. This course is designed for students with beginner to expert paddling skills.
Topics include, but are not limited to: rescue philosophy, river hazard assessment, self-rescue skills, accessing techniques (wading, swimming, etc.), dealing with strainers, ropes, knots, anchors and mechanical advantage, boat extrication, equipment, clothing, incident command, leadership, and much more.
The typical day begins with land based exercises and discussions followed by in water practice sessions. Adjustments will be made for water levels and weather.
